HYSTERIA
Hysteria is a New York jewelry label for women who have always been told they are too much. Founded by Brooklyn-based designer Jackie Ansell, the collection playfully reclaims “female hysteria,” turning Victorian symbols of constraint into expressions of wit, power and self-possession. Corsets, padlocks and intricate lacework become everyday armor, while a maximalist mix of gothic romance and playful irreverence unapologetically celebrates the contradictions of the female spirit.
At its heart is Hysteria’s reimagined cameo: a corseted hourglass figure hand-carved in bone or created in precious inlays, transforming a symbol of confinement into one of strength. Traditional materials including coral, opal and carnelian sit alongside recycled sterling silver and gold, often combined within a single piece. Designed in Brooklyn and handmade by artisans in Providence, Rhode Island, Hysteria creates jewelry for women who refuse to dim their light, where ornament becomes armor, constraint becomes power, and too much is exactly enough.
