ELLIS MHAIRI CAMERON
WILD HIGHLANDS AND SCULPTURAL GOLD
Ellis Mhairi Cameron’s jewelry feels like it holds a piece of history within it. Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, Ellis grew up surrounded by rugged seascapes and mountains, landscapes shaped by time, weather, and history. These early experiences gave her a lifelong fascination with imperfect beauty and the emotional connection people form with place - it’s a feeling that runs through everything she creates.
Ellis first moved to Glasgow in 2010 to pursue an art foundation course, initially planning to study sculpture or painting. But it was jewelry that captured her imagination, offering the chance to combine sketching, design, and small-scale sculpture into something wearable and lasting. She completed a BA in Jewellery & Silversmithing at The Glasgow School of Art, followed by an MA in Jewelry Design at Central Saint Martins in London, before launching her own brand in 2018.
Since then, Ellis’s work has gained international recognition, with stockists including Twist, Esqueleto, Sailor and Liberty London. She regularly exhibits at leading showcases such as Goldsmiths' Fair and Melee The Show in New York, sharing her distinctive approach to gold and diamond jewellery. Every piece she creates is a celebration of texture, handcraft, and heritage, designed to feel contemporary yet timeless, like future heirlooms.
Her latest collection, Armach, builds on this vision. Inspired by ancient Scottish armour and treasure hoards, the pieces feature raw, sculptural gold surfaces and antique-cut diamonds, evoking the strength and resilience of history worn and weathered by time. Armach continues Ellis’s exploration of jewellery that feels both powerful and deeply personal.
In 2021, Ellis was named Young Jewellery Designer of the Year at the UK Jewellery Awards, and in 2024, she was awarded a Large Bursary Grant from The Goldsmiths’ Company to continue her engraving studies, bringing even more intricate craftsmanship into her work.
Today, Ellis and her small team are based in a by-appointment studio at The Goldsmiths' Centre in London. Whether creating bespoke commissions or collections for her global stockists, Ellis remains committed to celebrating handcraft, imperfection, and the stories jewellery can tell pieces to be worn, treasured, and passed down through generations.
